What to do this Australia Day weekend ?
1. Australia Day at South Bank
Celebrate the great outdoors this Australia Day at South Bank. Bring the family, pack a picnic, pull up some grass and enjoy free live music at River Quay from 11am to 7.30pm. Then, be dazzled by an impressive fireworks display from the banks of the Brisbane River from 7:30pm.
2. Australia Day Raceday
Get trackside and experience the exhilaration and excitement of live racing at Doomben Racecourse this Australia Day. Long summer days and warm summer nights are what Brisbanites live for. Chill out, slow down and kick back. We got you… With a relaxed dress code, live racing, exquisite food and drink, and live entertainment after the final race, you will have the ultimate day out.
3. Australia Day at Victoria Park Golf Course
You will find plenty of activities at Victoria Park on Friday 26 January to celebrate Australia Day with spirit! Fun activities on the day will include Aussie tug a war, sack races, jumping castle, giant outdoor games, our kid’s playground will be open all day and the Bistro will be serving up Aussie meals.
PLUS for the kid’s there will be free Aussie Maleny Dairies soft-serve ice-cream, watermelon slices, and face painting!
4. Australia day at the Covent Garden Ginuary
If you are a fan of gin or cocktails, head to the Covent Garden for their Ginuary. They're hosting a party to start the epic long weekend with a spectacular cocktail event, dedicated to exploring the different varieties of our favourite spirit.
The event will be held on 25 January 2018 running from 6 pm. Tickets are $39 per person and available online at the Covent Garden Ginuary webpage.
5. Australian Open Finals tennis live on the Big Screen
A garden party is coming to Eagle Farm Racecourse this January. Join us for a Pimms on the lawn while taking in all the action of the Australian Open tennis finals, streaming live on the biggest screen in the Southern Hemisphere.

6. Australia day watching the Brisbane Heat

Keep it laidback and get some screen-free time at one of many public parks in Brisbane. You can search on the Brisbane City Council website for parks with barbeque or dog-friendly areas.
8. Australia Day on the Gold Coast
Celebrate Australia Day with a bang – fireworks and food truck feast for the family. Be part of the celebrations that unite our nation at the Gold Coast Australia Day event at Broadwater Parklands. Spend the day soaking up the sun then head to the Broadwater Parklands from 4pm and fill up from the all-nations food truck feast. Pack your picnic rug and gather your family and friends for a wonderful afternoon of food, fun and spectacular fireworks.
9. Australia Day at Springfield Central
Apart from the amazing lagoon and waterpark, Robelle Domain Parklands will become the ultimate Australia Day destination with a Quick bash cricket 20-Twenty match at 2:00pm, a movie at (6.30pm) and Fireworks at 8:00pm. Mixed in all of this will be market stalls and some yummy food at reasonable prices.
10. Australia Day at HOME
Start up the barbie, pull out the homemade water slide, adorn yourself with Aussie flag apparel and tune into Triple J on the radio for the Hottest 100 countdown - for a truly Australian way to spend the day with family and friends! Recommended food choices are sausages, party pies, prawns, and a pavlova! Don't forget the beers & backyard cricket!
